The Francis Hotel

We arranged accomodation at the Francis Hotel on Queen Square (also designed by John Wood). Beautiful location but unfortunately the hotel rather rests on its laurels and god knows what was up with the kitchen at breakfast on the Monday. They also were unable to understand that the Saturday night our room was single occupancy only and then double on the wedding night, so the Saturday they laid the room out for two and on our wedding night, the prepared it for one. The mind boggles at such imcompetency.

There does seem to be one receptionist who is worse than the others (she, we later found out, regularly gave us misinformation) and when Nick asked her if anything had been left for us at reception she said no. Three weeks later we got a rather abrupt letter from the Francis asking why we hadn't picked up a present from reception... We think it was also her who managed not to give out the letters Isobel had written to all our guests who were arriving the night before, to ask them if they wanted to come to dinner with us at our favourite Italian.

So all in all, very pretty, but we wouldn't necessarily recommend it unreservedly.
